Working on Escape Rooms as an
Immersive Experience Developer
I was hired as an "Immersive Experience Developer" by Epic Team Adventures (or ETA), to help build their escape rooms and design the puzzles inside them.
During my time there I helped bring four new puzzle room adventures to life:
- Room 25 Live!
- Storybook Legends: Excalibur
- The Enigma Box: Dead Man's Chest
- Storybook Legends: The Raven and the Red Death
Developing an escape room is a multidisciplinary process; I worked on prop-making and puzzle design most of the time, as those two areas tend to work hand-in-hand for escape rooms.
After a room was released, I helped run the rooms for our customers, remaining present in the puzzle space to provide hints and other assistance our customers might need. Being present as they solved also provided a great source of live feedback, which we used to develop revisions for issues or general improvements to the room.
